Savory Onion Prosciutto Sammie
My favorite part about this sandwich is that you can eat it either hot or cold! The only question is do you want shredded cheese or melted cheese?
In this version of the sammie, we are using prosciutto but this really works with pretty much any italian sandwich meat. The saltiness of the meat pairs perfectly with the richer cheesy jam spread - again, this works both hot and cold! The instructions below are for the cold version but check the notes section for the baking instructions.
- 1/2 cup Blake Hill Savory Onion Confit Jam
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp Simply Flavorful Garden Veggie Mix
- 8oz shredded cheese (pick a creamy cheese - havarti, tilsit, monterey jack, etc)
- sliced prosciutto, salami, capicola, etc
- baguettes or Italian Bread
In a small bowl, combine the Savory Onion Confit Jam, mayo & garden veggie mix. Add the shredded cheese and stir gently until cheese is fully covered in mixture.
Slice a baguette or Italian Bread in half sandwich style - spread the cheese mixture on both sides of the bread and layer your meats of choice over one side of the bread. Top with the other half of the bread and gently use a serrated knife to cut into single serve sandwich bites.
Makes enough spread for one long baguette or two small baguettes.
To serve hot - preheat oven to 350F and bake for 5-10 minutes or until cheese is somewhat melty but not fully oozing out of the sandwich. Slice and serve!
